The Dangers of Chatting

I found this video online today. I do not like chatting at all! I do not encourage chatting. Please watch this film with your child. I will also watch it with the class next week.

Well done Mrs Jane!!!! Congratulation for what you have done and you deserve to get the two tumbs up from the parents about your blog.

It is really new and unique way of teaching and students try their hard to find the tasks from you through the net and I thought they learn a lot how to find the information through the net.

Again, well done mam....I will always support you in any of your activity...really unique experience having a brilliant charming and responsible teacher like you.... As a parent, nothing I can say. just very proud having my daughters at you.....

Un saludos,

Hendra Pranoto

I watched this with my daughters last night and explained again the internet safety rule. Thank you for finding this for us. It is a very important "eye opening" for all of us, especially those who are new in computer world.

Blessings,

Honestly, both kids like to browse the internet so much & this include chatting. According to your test, it's not healty anymore. On one side, I'm glad they're learning faster through the net, but there're also bad things there. This video helps a lot in explaining to them.

Besides chatting, there're sites which are not suitable for kids. Mrs. Jane, I'd like to know more on how to protect them for not browsing those sites. Secondly, with the broadband & wireless facility, it's a bit difficult to control the kids surfing the net. I do regular random check and so far it's ok. Any advise? Btw, I've tried to make my own blog. Alizka teached me. It's still a very simple one. Far away from the Grade 5 kids' blogs though. I'll keep on learning..

Many thanks and best regards,
Mira - Alizka's Mom

I think that you have done well by learning to make a blog. As for blocking off sites, there is software that you can buy. I prefer to know myself what it is that my kids are looking at. By doing this, I can teach them what is appropriate. A key factor is placing the computer in an open area in your house and looking at the history tab on a regular basis. Stay calm if you see something that you don't approve of. Discuss with your child why you don't want them to view certain sites. You can teach them the right way. Most kids just need to know what to do and why.
